John Kestle, M.D.

Dr. Kestle is the Program Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine and the Primary Children's Medical Center. He is a native of Canada and finished his neurosurgical training at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1990. This was followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children, also in Toronto, before he accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of British Columbia and the British Columbia  Children's Hospital. He has a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Clinical Trial Design.

Dr. Kestle is director of the Neurosurgical Trials Methodology Center, which coordinates international randomized trials in neurosurgery. He was successful in developing the first Masters Degree post-graduate course for Neurosurgical Clinical Trials Designs in North America. He was recruited to join our faculty at the University of Utah and the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery in 1998. He is a Professor of Neurosurgery and continues his research in clinical trials. He has brought an expertise in surgery for seizures in children that was not previously available in the Intermountain region.
