Some of the causes of
hydrocephalus that are amenable to third ventriculostomy include aqueductal
stenosis, tectal plate tumors, pineal region tumors, posterior fossa tumors,
or any other mass lesion obstructing flow on and about the third ventricle.
In addition, many school age patients with Spina Bifida can be made shunt
free if a third ventriculostomy can be performed at the appropriate time.
We would
be happy to discuss the technique and our results with you, and hope that
you feel free to contact us regarding this procedure.
