Third Ventriculostomy

Endoscopic third ventriculostomy is a relatively new surgical technique, which creates a hole in the floor of the third ventricle to promote the safe and natural flow of spinal fluid in making a child shunt free. Our entire staff has extensive experience in this procedure and all are recognized experts within the field. In addition, many of us have taught at national and international courses regarding this technique and are considered pioneers in the field. We are very proud of our track record regarding this procedure and feel that our results are second to none.

Some of the causes of hydrocephalus that are amenable to third ventriculostomy include aqueductal stenosis, tectal plate tumors, pineal region tumors, posterior fossa tumors, or any other mass lesion obstructing flow on and about the third ventricle. In addition, many school age patients with Spina Bifida can be made shunt free if a third ventriculostomy can be performed at the appropriate time.

We would be happy to discuss the technique and our results with you, and hope that you feel free to contact us regarding this procedure.
